Farewell bailout: Troubled Asset Relief Program runs out Oct. 3

After helping to prevent an economic collapse, the TARP (TARP) runs out on schedule Oct. 3. It turns out the bailout price only a fraction of what the right wing has been saying . Nevertheless, the unprecedented nature of TARP alarmed opponents of so-called big government and turned “bailout” into a Republican code term intended to demonize the administration’s fiscal policies . TARP succeeded in bailing out corporate American in the form of entities such as Wall Street, General Motors and AIG. But the average American has yet to view the slightest benefit, which has put Democrats within the surreal position of taking heat for a program hatched by the Bush regime.

There can be no more loans coming from TARP beginning on Sunday. Of course, it will continue to collect repayments individuals make. Fortune at Cable News Network reports that it’s been 2 years since Congress gave $700 billion to the Treasury Department to prevent an economic collapse. The economy is limping along, Wall Street has resumed pillaging, and TARP’s final bill is much less than at first thought. The Treasury claims the government didn’t give them all of the funds. Only $386 billion actually went to them. Now the money is slowly going back to the government. The rates are higher than expected too. Tim Geithner claims that within the end, Troubled Asset Relief Program will only have expenses $50 billion. Geithner is the Treasury Secretary.

Troubled Asset Relief Program not responding as expected

The financial system needed saving from the government that came only partly via the Troubled Asset Relief Program , reports the Washington Post. More than $1.5 trillion was distributed by the Treasury and Federal Reserve to help the mortgage and housing market. The federal government has become part of the private sector now with all the bailouts. As a result, political extremists are painting economic rescue as a socialist takeover. The majority are against the government at present due to this. That means that midterm elections aren’t looking so good for all of those people who voted for TARP.

Political figures and views on TARP

The Bush administration began a program however has left Democrats fighting for Troubled Asset Relief Program for making it look sound. ABC News explains that Republicans are excited that Troubled Asset Relief Program isn’t something that the country likes. That means that those associated with the term bailout, Obama and Democrats, aren’t liked due to the bad connotation. For example, at an press conference Aug. 10, House Republicans used the word at least seven times when badmouthing a $26 billion state fiscal aid package moving via Congress. Even though the program is already expired, the “Pledge to America” from Republicans claims the program could be ended permanently.
